Put Your Mind To It

Recently, I was chatting with one of my daughters about her future and the conversation wound it’s way around to parental expectations. She said, “You know mom, I think a lot of parents tell their kids that they can do anything they put their mind to, but I think what most people don’t understand is that putting your mind to something does not necessarily mean working super hard, or struggling to make something perfect, or even having everything all  planned out. It means, first, putting your mind to it: imagining, dreaming, seeing ahead of time what it is you want, before you even start planning how to get there.”

Good idea; less struggling more imagining!
